Synlait 'Inspire 2015' conference

On this week's blog Brett Saunders (Regen's Sales Channels Manager) reflects on the recent Synlait 'Inspire 2015' conference.

This year's Synlait Supplier conference was bursting with inspiration. After the welcome from Chairman Graeme Milne and the state of the nation address by Managing Director & CEO John Penno, attendees were well informed by a variety of speakers who reflected Synlait's ambition of Leading with Pride with their leadership stories.

Presenters included Gerard Hickey, owner & Managing Director of Firstlight Foods (Lead with Greatness), who export high quality chilled grass-fed Wagyu beef into the European, American & US markets and Dr Scott McDougall, Managing Director of Cognosco (Lead with Care), an organisation which undertakes research and extension work in reproduction mastitis and antibiotic usage in dairy animals. Dave Anderson Chief Operating Officer of Icebreaker (Lead with Foresight), spoke on the supply chain of Icebreaker and its' strong relationships forged on ethical and environmentally transparent practices. Richard Smith, Crusaders High Performance Leader (Lead with Integrity), let us in on a few of the Crusaders strategies for high performance. Unfortunately Cameron Bagrie, Chief Economist from the ANZ, couldn't give any positive dairy commodities news. However  Dr John Roche, Principal Scientist for Dairy NZ, gave us plenty of positive information regarding the health attributes of dairy products. Steve Dunn, CEO of Munchkin, gave us a good insight into the infant and toddler products markets and spoke highly of their newly formed Synlait relationship in which Munchkin produces grass-fed infant formula.

It was a good forum for some interesting information to be shared to Synlait suppliers and business partners and the panel of speakers provided a good sounding board for a variety of questions relating to their companies, the economy and dairy markets, technology and strategies.
